How to Properly Store Your Fragrances

After you have selected the perfect fragrance, you’ll want to make sure that you are taking good care to keep it safe and smelling fresh. You may not know this, but there are actually wrong ways to store your scents. If you are curious about how to properly care for your fragrance, here are some tips you should know.

Keep Away From Direct Sunlight

If you are someone who travels often, you may be inclined to keep your fragrance bottle in your vehicle. This can be a problem. If your fragrance lives in your car, you risk exposing it to both extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Too much sunlight can essentially cook your fragrance which will changes the color and scent. Rather than risking damage, try investing in a Travalo! They are super inexpensive and even TSA approved so you can take them literally anywhere that you need to go. Keep one of these filled with your favorite scent and put it in your purse. This will make sure you always smell your best.

Don’t Store on a High Shelf

If you’re anything like us here at The Fragrance Market, you’ll know that one of the best parts of getting a new fragrance is collecting the unique bottles. Each fragrance bottle is delicately created and oftentimes, they are made out of glass. To prevent dangerous situations, it is best to keep your fragrances on lower shelves. When you put your fragrance up high, you risk it falling and breaking. We wouldn’t wish this tragic situation on anyone! Instead of storing your fragrance on a shelf in the bathroom, try finding a decorative box to store your scents.

Keep Temps Consistent

Exposing your fragrance to inconsistent temperatures can be extremely detrimental to your perfumes longevity. While the bathroom may seem like the most obvious location to store your favorite fragrance, you might want to reconsider. Each time you take a hot shower, the air outside becomes humid and breaks down the contents of your fragrances. Over time, these sudden rises in humidity can cause your fragrances to smell strange and undesirable. Instead of using your bathroom for storage, try keeping your fragrances in your bedroom. They will last longer and ultimately save you money.
